We are working to help support Caring Destiny school in Kyanuna, a small village of about 40 families located in the north-central region of Uganda (northwest of Kampala).
Kyanuna is home to over eighty impoverished children, many of whom are orphans. The parents of these children are either seriously ill or have died from malnutrition, diseases, and tribal warfare. The sick must walk many miles to seek government hospitals. Without any money for an education, the children that do survive often resort to strenuous farm work, in dangerous mines, or on the oil fields.
A man by the name of Mwanje Patrick, an orphan himself, began to help these children in small ways. He felt like if he didn’t do something, no else was going to. He had few resources himself, but gained the attention of a few locals who were interested in helping more. People donated useful things they didn’t need anymore like, shoes, clothes, extra food. He loosely organized a dedicated group and began helping the children in bigger ways by finding shelter for all the children, providing meals when he could. He found a property to rent through a pastor and even constructed a school. He named his school Caring Destiny.
His efforts were recognized by many, and for once, there was hope for a better future. Mwanje’s needs have grown beyond what he could provide for the children. He tells his story to anyone who will listen. Eventually through the power of the Internet and the amazing technology we have today, his story got out and his school has gained support from all around the world. Through the collaborative efforts of many, we created this organization to help Mwanje facilitate his vision for a better future.
